Estava conversando com um amigo meu (oi Gui), que lembrava que no meu carro houve uma época em que eu só ouvi The Killers. Aí ele me perguntou se eu conhecia a The Murder Trilogy, que, como o nome sugere, são três músicas da banda que descrevem um assassinato. Não conhecia (:O) e fui me informar. Achei super legal a história!
Em Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf, o protagonista está se lamentando porque sua namorada, Jennifer, o trocou por outro. Aí em Midnight Show, ele comete o crime e em Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, confessa tudo.
Depois que pesquisei, aprendi também que o objetivo deles era fazer um curta com a história. E também corriam boatos de que Mr Brightside, uma das músicas mais famosas da banda, seria a continuação, com o protagonista saindo da cadeia, no entanto isso foi desmentido por Brendam Flowers, o vocalista.

Não é apenas uma música, são três que contam uma história só:
Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf, ele está lamentando que a Jennifer o deixou, diz que ainda a ama, e pede outra chance, tudo isso no meio da bebedeira.
Midnight Show conta que ele encontrou com a garota e tirou sua vida sob as estrelas e jogou seu corpo no mar, mas que a maré crescente não é o suficiente para esconder o corpo.
Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, seria ele confessando ao crime junto aos policiais: ele a segurou próximo dele e a sufocou. Ele também diz que não tem motivos para o crime, e que ficou o dia todo lá com eles e está cansado.
